PLUTO IN AQUARIUS

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has settled into Aquarius, the sign of the universal collective, revolution, and ingenuity, where it will remain for the next 22 years. The last time these two traveled together through the stars, was from 1778 to 1798. During that transit, the world saw the American, French, and Haitian revolutions, as well as the beginning of the Industrial revolution. Pluto’s return to Aquarius could usher in another wave of societal transformation. We’re already seeing a move back to grassroots energy, and an explosion of tech-driven systems.

During the past 15 years, as Pluto has moved through Capricorn, we’ve seen a powerful war build between a shift back toward the traditional roles of authoritarian and patriarchal societies and a fight against the systems that would strip people of their hard-earned gains for equality and personal freedoms. In everything from the food industry, to healthcare, to politics, to religion, we’ve seen corporate and personal greed rise to the level of endangering humanity. Capricorn wants to be boss, and focuses on success no matter what the cost. Pluto is on a search-and-destroy mission to expose hypocrisy and knock down the systems that are all about power and control.

Aquarius is the sign of groups. Casual friends, social circles, political parties, religions, clubs, any type of collective belief system. The caveat to the we-all-think-alike glue that cements these clicks and cults is that Aquarius is also the symbol of individualism. Aquarius loves the collective, but operates on an individual basis within the hive mind.

Pluto is all about intensity. During the next 22 years, we’re going to see more extreme encounters between factions that want to control the world and those that want to reform it. The caveat is, that with Pluto’s dark energy in the mix, we’re going to have to be diligent about our choices. Is that new global or personal group you’re drawn truly humanitarian or just another fanatical gang? Is AI going to save us or enslave us? Pluto’s slow transit gives us plenty of time to test, research, and question any new people, social group, and organizations before committing.

Pluto also asks that we take a long look at what has taken our personal power as well as how we’ve tried to control others. We’re being asked to look at what we’ve ignored or been afraid of, so that we can evolve. Our personal alignments may change as people and ideas we’ve held onto no longer work. During this long transit we’re encouraged to break away from blind acceptance and to question everything.
