JANUARY, 2025 HOROSCOPES

…as the outer planets have been busy shifting signs for the last few months, shaking up our routines. The biggest news is Pluto’s move into Aquarius where he will remain for the next 22 years, and I’ll discuss that further in future posts. After five months backpedaling through Pisces, Neptune has turned direct. His retro motion made us all a little spacy. Now that he’s moving forward again, we can start the year feeling a bit more in control and proactive. From December 6 to February 23, 2025, Mars, the warrior planet, retrogrades first through Leo, and then into Cancer.

To get a deeper look at what may be going on in your world this month, read your Sun, Rising, and Moon sign horoscopes.

 ARIES

2025 begins with a shakeup as Pluto takes up residence in your area of social groups and casual friendships. Don’t be surprised if a seemingly abrupt change or two occurs. Actually, it’s probably something that’s been building for a while, but with Pluto’s clean-house attitude, you, or someone else, finally decides to make a move. Once this person or group exits, you’ll have space for new and exciting relationships to appear.

Your ruler Mars’s retrograde can further ignite trouble as he first muddles your creative thinking making you second-guess yourself which shortens your temper even more than usual. Then as the warrior planet backs into your home sector, you could alternate between being overly protective, even a little clingy, and the need to watch how you talk to your family. Instead of micromanaging everyone or flying off the handle over insignificant issues, exercise more patience and cut the people you’re supposed to love some slack.

 TAURUS

Pluto’s move into Aquarius puts your career under the spotlight for the next 22 years. If you’re already thinking about moving jobs, going back to school, or following an old dream, you could get a jolt reminding you that you really can do anything you want with your life. You’re one of the people who cares about others, so your focus could change to how you can help humanity on a much broader scale. This slow transit will bring plenty of opportunity for you to make your mark on the world.

With retrograding Mars in your home sector, you might feel like tackling a home improvement project you keep putting off, even if it’s just finally cleaning out the junk drawer or getting rid of that stack of old clothes you never wear. After the 6th, your famous Taurus patience might be tested when Mars backs into your communication sector. Trying to get a point across or make yourself heard becomes garbled, frustrating you. Follow up face-to-face conversations with a confirming email or text for clarity. Be persistent, but don’t bellow. Be honest, but not brutal.

 GEMINI

You’re one of the most curious people in the universe so Pluto and Aquarius’s linkup is going to be right up your alley. During their trip through the sky, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover just about anything you’d like to know. No matter what your age, this period in your life is going to send all kinds of new people your way. Many could be from different countries, certainly from different cultures. Pluto encourages you to flex your brain muscle and pay attention to more than just the neighborhood gossip. You’re good at skimming the surface of a new idea, technology, or social group. Now, you’re being asked to dig deep for solid facts, listen with both ears, and really hear what people are saying.

You love to talk, text, and phone multiple people, usually all at the same time. For the first week in January, use extreme caution as retro Mars can foul up communications. Make sure you’re texting or emailing the right person before you hit the send button. Otherwise, you’re going to have a lot of explaining to do. For the rest of the month, watch your money. You could forget to pay a holiday bill or miscalculate your finances. This is a good time to revise your budget and make a plan for the year.

 CANCER

Pluto is going to meddle in, and maybe muddle, your area of combined finances, inheritances, and long-term partnerships. His presence here will cause some bone rattling, as a skeleton or three could fall out of a closet you thought was locked. If this happens, of course you’ll be shaken, but what’s really happening is that the air is being cleared. Once a secret is unleashed, you’ll eventually feel a weight being lifted from your life. Be cautious of financial dealings during these years. Money entanglements with relatives could be dicey. Don’t fall for a scam or scheme. Be careful of taxes you may owe. Any inheritance you receive, you may have to fight to keep.

Mars retrograding through your area of money and values adds to Pluto’s move-in jolt which could cause you to scramble for finances during the first week of January. After that, Mars backs into your sign asking you to take a good look at yourself and your behavior. Take time to reassess how or whether you’ve been expressing your anger in positive ways. Passive aggression fuels dysfunction. If you need to clear the air about a matter, just state the facts as you see them. Don’t let them simmer until you blow up.

 LEO

Pluto’s shift into Aquarius is going to most likely change your outlook on how you view your closet relationships. Lovers, close friends, business partners, any committed relationships will come under scrutiny. During this long transit, you’re being asked to reevaluate those partnerships and change behaviors that may have led to you to rely on people who drain you more than help you thrive. Be discriminating in choosing those with whom you want in your life. Setting healthy boundaries now will lay the groundwork for healthy life-long connections.

Feel like you’re running as fast as you can, yet getting nowhere? Tired of smiling when you want to throw a brick through the window? Until the 6th, Mars retrograding through your sign can wreck all kinds of havoc with your sense of self, making you doubt your ability to get anything accomplished. Instead of running in circles, take a look at where you may be wasting time you could spend on an important goal and revise accordingly. When Mars moves into your spiritual sector for the rest of the month, pay attention to your intuition. Success could come from an unlikely source.

 VIRGO

Pluto’s long-term hookup with Aquarius is doubly important for you because he is moving into your sixth house and natural home on the zodiac wheel. You’re being asked to reassess your job, your health, and how you feel about caring for others. Pluto’s move suggests that something is unbalanced in one or more of these areas. Yours is a sign of service, but are you only helping others and neglecting yourself? Are you too self-serving to the neglect of others? Think about your day job. Just bringing home a paycheck and wishing for something better? Now is the perfect time to start working toward a career that will provide satisfaction and long-term stability. Neglecting your health? Revamp your diet and/or exercise program. Pluto digs up issues we’ve ignored, so it could be crucial to start the new year with a thorough checkup.

The first week in January may find you wishing you could just stay home and turn off the world. That’s Mars retrograding through the most private sector of your chart. Having weird dreams? Is an old emotional sore spot rearing its head? Set aside some quiet time to think about what’s causing your angst. You could finally resolve an issue you’ve pushed to the back burner for too long. For the last three weeks of the month, Mars backs into your area of friendships and social groups. Have you let someone take advantage of you? Have you been stepping aside and letting your gang fend for themselves? Retro Mars helps you to either step up to the plate and defend your friends, or confront someone who’s been trying to push you aside. You might have to be forceful to be heard, but you also know how to get your way without stepping on too many toes.

 LIBRA

Pluto is settling into Aquarius and your area of romance, creativity, children, and self-expression, and you are about to have your life in these areas rewired in ways you might not believe. What seems like light-hearted fun today could begin to look trivial and not worth your time as Pluto fuels your need for intense experiences. You could become obsessed with fulfilling a creative dream which won’t be impossible with Pluto’s strength behind you. As the changes occur, challenges pop up testing your ability to stay balanced and not let Pluto’s intensity turn you into a control freak. Putting that energy into the universe will backfire and you’ll only end up attracting those types of people into your life. You rarely make snap judgments or rush when making changes. Yes, Pluto’s transit is long and slow, but that doesn’t mean you can procrastinate. Permanent change takes time, so start now.

Until the 6th, retro Mars fires up your need to scrutinize your social groups and friends. Looking for a change? Feeling left out? Concentrate on reaching out to like-minded people. During the remainder of January, Mars moves into your career sector bringing some sort of conflict, either with your boss or the way in which you’re trying to make your mark. Instead of arguing in the short-term, take a look at how your actions now are going to affect your future goals.

 SCORPIO

You’re no stranger to crises and power plays. Pluto’s move into your home and family area is going to focus on how power is shared or not at home. During this long-term transit, Pluto is signaling that it’s time for you to loosen the strings. Change is hard for you, especially because you need to control your environment, but now you’re being asked to let someone else help. You may find yourself thinking about your childhood, choices you didn’t make, and whether you’ve been taken advantage of in your family relationships. These emotions, even resentment toward others or guilt about your own behavior, need to be dealt with so that you can clear the air both within you and with the people you love. Scorpios are notorious for not letting go, but now is the time to stop obsessing about dead-end situations or past mistakes and concentrate on making the most of the present.

The last few days of Mars’s backward motion through your career sector gives you a final shot at clearing the air about a misunderstanding that could harm your reputation. Then, for the rest of the month, as he moves through your area of adventure and higher learning, you might feel energized to learn something new that can contribute to either your earning power or a personal desire.

 SAGITTARIUS

Get ready to ramble (travel and talk) more than ever. Pluto’s moving into your communication and short trips sector to stay for the next 22 years. You love to travel, even if it’s just around town. During this transit you could be even more determined to see the world—literally. If you’re already a world traveler, your focus may turn to discovering your country. If you rarely pack a bag, you could decide to see what you’ve been missing. You’re one of the zodiac’s great communicators and Pluto’s transit could also make you almost obsessive about expressing your ideas and ideals as he awakens the deepest part of your philosophical side.

Mars’s last week of retrograde could get you excited about adding even more stamps to your passport. No matter how much traveling you do, you might feel that you’re still missing that one great adventure. Go ahead and plan but be patient. As with any retrograde, it could take a little more effort to put everything together. During the last three weeks of January, Mars backs into your area of intimate relationships reminding you that, whatever you’re planning, share your ideas with your partner first.

 CAPRICORN

Pluto in Aquarius is going to keep you focused on the value systems in your life. Yes, this includes your income flow and how you budget, or not, your finances. On a deeper level, you’re being asked to review your personal values. You could have a financial setback that makes you fear losing everything. You might become obsessive about hanging onto objects that hold sentimental value for you. You can also deepen your ability to find deals and investments that will help you build wealth.

As Mars spins backward through your area of intimacy and joint resources, you’re encouraged to look at how you may be handling money issues with relatives. You may also feel a tug to slow down and think about finding a serious relationship, or getting closer to your partner. After the 6th, Mars retreats into your partnership sector making romance seem even more important. If you’re feeling ignored, try talking out your angst instead of roaring about being neglected.

 AQUARIUS

Get ready…Pluto’s moving in with you for the next 22 years. Yes, this is heavy-duty as you will probably encounter several life-changing events. Don’t panic. Even though you might get blindsided a few times, Pluto always points the way to a brighter future. The lesson is all about control. You can’t control certain events that happen in life. You can’t control other people or what they may think of you. The only thing you can control is yourself and how you respond to unplanned events. You’re going to have more magnetism that projects total confidence when dealing with other people even if you might have imposter syndrome inside. This is can be a great period of self-transformation and empowerment.

Mars’s retrograde through your area of partnerships has stirred up some angst. Are you tired of being the peacemaker, the caregiver, the responsible one in a relationship? That aggravation will shortly pass, but you’re encouraged to think about how you can change the dynamic that’s weighing you down within the relationship so you don’t exhaust yourself fighting something you think can’t be changed. After the 6th, Mars’s move into your area of health and daily routine could add a glitch to your fitness program or make your to-do list grow even longer. Use this slow energy to slow yourself down and prioritize your most important commitments—the ones that will contribute most to your personal health and wellbeing.

 PISCES

Pluto’s move into your area of the subconscious, intuition, and secrets holds double meaning because this is also Pisces’s natural home on the zodiac wheel. This long transit deals with how you handle issues from your past and your spiritual growth. You’re being asked to clear the clutter from your emotional dungeon so that you can tune into the spiritual side of your being. You are an empathetic soul. You can walk in a room and instantly feel the atmosphere. Or shiver with unease at a stranger’s presence. Pluto heightens these natural gifts and you may need to carve out definite periods of solitude to keep from being overwhelmed. Secrets you’ve buried might resurface, at least in your mind, because Pluto wants you to deal with and then release them. Punishing yourself for what you’ve done to others, to yourself, or were unable to prevent from happening to you or someone you loved, does nothing but continue your cycle of pain. This transit brings a special opportunity to become a source of compassion for anyone who needs a kind word or touch. The first person in line should be you.

For the first week in January, Mars’s backpedaling through your sector of health and everyday routine can make you feel like you’re slogging through mud as you try to make progress with a fitness program, your day job, or tackling your to-do list. Don’t get frustrated, just keep moving. Look for a more efficient way to spend your time and energy. During the last three weeks, Mars moves into your creative zone. Don’t hold yourself back. This rush of energy might seem scattered but you could come up with a stellar way to get artistic recognition.
